คำแนะนำในการเขียน College Application Essay
1. อ่านคำสั่งให้ละเอียดรอบคอบ (Read the instructions carefully)
ตอนเริ่มเขียน จะถือว่าเป็นจุดที่ยากที่สุด เพราะเราต้องอ่านคำสั่งอย่างรอบคอบ เพื่อจะเก็บรายละเอียดว่า เราจะยึด application essay guidelines อย่างไร กำหนดให้เขียนกี่หน้า หรือเขียนยาวกี่คำ เขียนกี่ตัวอักษรรวมช่องว่าง

2. เริ่มเขียน Introduction (Start with a compelling introduction)
สิ่งที่จะต้องจำไว้เสมอก็คือ เจ้าหน้าที่ของมหาวิทยาลัยมีเวลาน้อยมากในการอ่าน Application Essay ของผู้สมัคร เพราะแต่ละปีมีผู้สมัครเยอะมาก
พารากราฟแรก จะต้องเป็นอะไรที่อ่านแล้ว มีความน่าสนใจมากพอ ทำให้คนอ่านอยากอ่านต่อในพารากราฟที่เหลือ
ดังนั้น introduction จึงถือว่าเป็นส่วนที่สำคัญมากๆครับ หากเราค้นใน Google แล้วลองค้นตัวอย่างที่เขาเขียนออนไลน์ต่างๆ เราจะพบว่า introduction ที่แตกต่างกัน ที่แตกต่างกันหลากหลายแนว
ทั้งนี้ทุกคนต่างก็จะให้ introduction นั้นเป็นอะไรที่พิเศษ ดึงดูดความสนใจให้ผู้อ่านอยากอ่านต่อนั่นเอง
3. เขียนออกมาจากใจ (Use your inner voice)
ที่สำคัญในการเขียน อย่าลอกใครมาส่ง จะต้องเขียนจากความรู้สึกนึกคิด จากไอเดียของคุณจริงๆ
เขียนให้เจ้าหน้าที่กันว่า คุณรู้สึกนึกคิดอย่างไร มีทักษะความสามารถอย่างไร แล้วโปรแกรมนี้จะช่วยให้คุณบรรลุเป้าหมายการทำงานในอนาคตได้อย่างไรบ้าง
เรียกได้ว่าเป็นที่ของคุณแล้วครับคุณจะต้องจัดเต็มในจุดนี้
อย่าลอกใครมาเด็ดขาด เพราะเวลาที่คุณเขียน คุณจะขาด Feeling หรือสูญเสียความเป็นตัวตนของคุณนั่นเอง
คนอ่านเวลาอ่านแล้วก็จะไม่อิน เพื่อสร้างความประทับใจไม่ได้ โอกาสที่เราจะได้รับคัดเลือกก็น้อยลงเช่นกัน
4. ยกตัวอย่างประกอบ (Give good examples to support your ideas)
การเขียนสมัครในลักษณะนี้ เราต้องแยกออกเป็น 2 อย่างครับ คือทำอย่างไรจะทำให้คณะกรรมการเชื่อ
แบบแรก แค่โม้ไปเฉยๆ ว่าเราเก่งอย่างโน้นอย่างนี้
กับแบบที่ 2 เราพูดไปแล้วยกตัวอย่างประกอบ เป็นตัวอย่างที่เกิดขึ้นจริงจากประสบการณ์ของเราเอง
เช่น ยกตัวอย่างความสำเร็จที่คุณสามารถเอาชนะได้ในเวลาทำงานตอนที่คุณทำงานอยู่แผนกโลจิสติกส์ คุณสามารถที่จะจัดความเป็นระเบียบเรียบร้อยของระบบโลจิสติกส์ จากเดิมที่ไม่สามารถเช็คได้ว่าสต๊อกสินค้าเดิมมีอยู่เท่าไหร่ การทำงานในแผนกนี้ถ้าหากไม่ชัดเจนในจำนวนของสินค้าคงคลัง ก็จะทำให้เกิดการสั่งซื้อสินค้ามากองไว้ สูญเสียเงินลงทุนไปเปล่าๆ
แต่เมื่อคุณเข้าไปทำงานที่นี่ คุณสร้างระบบบริหารจัดการที่ดีมากพอ มาเช็คสินค้าเข้าและสินค้าออกได้ตรงกับความเป็นจริง ช่วยลดต้นทุนให้กับทางบริษัทได้จำนวนมหาศาลจนคุณได้รับการยกย่องจากทางบริษัทเป็นพนักงานดีเด่นประจำปี เป็นต้น
หรือมีตัวอย่าง คุณอาจจะเข้าไปทำงานในบริษัทขนาดเล็ก ที่มียอดขายไม่สูงมากนัก เมื่อคุณเข้าไปดูแลทีมงานขาย คุณเห็นว่าสามารถที่จะขยายช่องทางการขายออนไลน์ได้อีกเยอะ
จึงได้เพิ่มกระบวนการขายออนไลน์ เพิ่มการตลาดทางออนไลน์ให้กับทางบริษัท จนยอดขายทางช่องทางนี้เติบโตขึ้นมาเป็นเท่าตัว สามารถยกยอดขายเป็นรายไตรมาสหรือรายปีได้จะยิ่งดี ทำให้คณะกรรมการเห็นว่าปัญหาและอุปสรรคที่มีสามารถแก้ได้อย่างไร เป็นต้น
น้ำหนักของคนที่มีตัวอย่างประกอบจะสะท้อน แนวคิด มุมมอง ได้ดีกว่านั่นเอง
5. หาคนช่วยตรวจทานต้นฉบับ (Draft)
ขั้นตอนสุดท้าย เมื่อเขียนเสร็จแล้ว ควรจะมีคนช่วยอ่าน อย่างน้อยก็ช่วยตรวจพิสูจน์อักษร หรือว่า Proofreading ให้ถูกต้องตามหลักภาษา
จะดีไปกว่านั้น หากสามารถที่จะหาผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นอาจารย์ มีรุ่นพี่ที่เคยไปเรียนที่นั่น สอบถามบริษัทเอเจนซี่ให้ช่วยตรวจสอบ Draft ที่เราร่างเอาไว้ ว่าโอเคหรือไม่ หรือควรปรับปรุงในประเด็นไหนบ้าง เพื่อให้เกิดความสนใจมากขึ้น

ไม่ใช่อีก 3 วันจะสมัครแล้วค่อยมานั่งเขียน งานที่เราจะได้ก็จะลวกๆ ไม่มีเวลาในการกล่าว Draft จน Final

I was a fully committed amateur scientist; this eagerness encouraged me to research the best course. I discovered California State University and the Engineering M.S. Thus supporting my aspiration to further advance my engineering research knowledge at California State University. Thanks to this experience, I know now better than ever that California State University is my opportunity to nurture my passion for engineering and science further.
Besides engineering, I am pulled to California State University for other motives. I desire to work with the wide range of students that California State University enthusiastically attracts with the same ambition but from different perspectives. They, like me, are there because California State University respects the value of diversity. To realize the confidence, trustworthiness, and attainment of California State University principles, new students must build a respectful environment that demonstrates these principles. I have always envisaged I would become a famous scientist. My peer saw Science, engineering, research, and presentation dull; I saw exhilaration and joy. When I was young, I persistently asked how? and why? to gain understanding initially from my parents, then my school teacher and friends. I visited many science exhibitions I was able to attend. Science as a universal subject captivated me, but carrying out science projects is my preferred area. Science projects brought me a greater understanding and particular enjoyment that continued to intensify the more I studied. In fact, this perpetual attraction to proactive science brought me to the science training programme at Lancaster University in mid-June. Taking part in the Student Science Training Programme and working in the laboratory felt like all my Christmases had come at once. Working on various projects consumed my whole thought process, and I did not even think this was my summer holiday period.
I remember that the research group initially wrote down the calculations required during the research. Many of my peers felt it was impossible, but I felt exhilarated and eager for more. I have always endeavoured to practise the maxim “great effort leads to great rewards,” and my research objectives began to be achieved indisputably very quickly. I then understood this was what was in my heart, and becoming a researcher would fulfil my ambition.
I became even more enthusiastic about the project if that was possible. During the project’s experimentation phase, I spent nearly all my time in the lab – and I loved every minute. From my morning debriefing with my to checking and rechecking results throughout the afternoon and evening, it was sheer bliss.
Waiting for the experiment results was trepidatious but extremely enjoyable. But I loved science. It brought me great comfort knowing I was following my dream. In a flash, it was the seventh week, and my first research experiment was completed.
Even though I worked extremely long hours and the work was arduous, the research filled me with happiness and satisfaction. That happiness and joy have substantiated and strengthened my love for science. I felt more interested and more captivated when working in that anywhere else, and I am dedicated to continuing my science research.
